PERAN SURAT KABAR AL-DJIHAD TERBITAN 1946 PADA MASA AWAL KEMERDEKAAN INDONESIA

This article examines the strategic role of the Al-Djihad newspaper, published in 1946, in the context of political resistance during Indonesia’s early independence. Using a qualitative method that combines a historical approach and content analysis, this study focuses on three editions of the newspaper: one from March 1946, and two from July 1946. These editions were selected for their relevance to political resistance against Dutch colonialism and due to limitations in archival availability. Al Djihad served as a crucial platform for shaping public opinion and fostering political solidarity through articles, opinions, and reports on battles and resistance against the Dutch military aggression. This study analyzes how the newspaper functioned not only as a news outlet but also as a propaganda tool that advocates for independence and openly criticizing Dutch policies. Drawing on reports from strategic regions, such as Bekasi and Poerwakarta, as well as editorial critiques of Dutch colonial policies, the findings highlight the role of Al-Djihad in galvanizing public solidarity that manifested as collective resistance against Dutch colonialism. The study concludes that Al-Djihad operated as a strategic medium, contributing to the building ofcollective awareness and strengthening of national identity in the struggle against Dutch colonialism.
